OVERVIEW
How do you keep a festival alive in a year built around distance?Festival work made in the winter of 2020, a year when most events of this kind were cancelled outright.
What is worth recording here is not the image but the fact of installation: crews on site, equipment out of storage, a public gathering permitted to happen on a defined footprint. Every decision in the build was shaped by conditions that changed week to week, and the work existed at all because a local festival held its dates when larger ones could not. In the studio's archive this year is kept as evidence that something was still possible.
