Chiang Mai Design Week 2023
OVERVIEW
Some landmarks are hidden not by distance, but by how familiar we have become with passing them.Projection onto a Lanna archway standing behind a row of houses, shown alongside woven sculptural forms placed in front of it.
The structure is a landmark most people walk past without registering — visible from the lane, framed by nothing, with none of the elevation or approach that would mark it as worth stopping for. Light is used to supply exactly what the site withholds: a viewing distance, an edge, a reason to stand still. The woven pieces hold the foreground so the archway is read at a set depth instead of dissolving into the wall behind it.

แลนด์มาร์กบางแห่งไม่ได้ถูกซ่อนด้วยระยะทาง แต่ถูกซ่อนเพราะเราเคยชินกับการเดินผ่านงานฉายภาพบนซุ้มประตูล้านนาที่ตั้งอยู่หลังแนวบ้านเรือน จัดแสดงคู่กับงานประติมากรรมสานที่วางไว้ด้านหน้า
โครงสร้างนี้เป็นแลนด์มาร์กที่คนส่วนใหญ่เดินผ่านโดยไม่ทันสังเกต มองเห็นได้จากในซอย ไม่มีอะไรจัดกรอบให้ และไม่มีระดับความสูงหรือทางเข้าที่บอกว่ามันควรค่าแก่การหยุดดู แสงจึงถูกใช้เพื่อเติมสิ่งที่พื้นที่ไม่ยอมมอบให้พอดี ทั้งระยะสำหรับมอง ขอบเขต และเหตุผลที่จะยืนนิ่ง งานสานทำหน้าที่ถือฉากหน้าไว้ ซุ้มประตูจึงถูกอ่านที่ระยะลึกระยะหนึ่ง แทนที่จะละลายหายไปกับผนังที่อยู่ข้างหลัง
