Decoding the Essence of Thai Architecture

OVERVIEW
We often look at Thai ornament as decoration. What might we hear if we treated it as rhythm?An installation that takes the proportional system of traditional Thai architecture and plays it back, live, as sound and moving image.
The measurements are pulled straight out of the carving. The spacing between elements becomes tempo. Repetition becomes beat. The ratios that govern a roofline are heard rather than drawn. Ornament, which is usually read as surface decoration and dismissed as such, is handled here as timing — the same information, moved from the eye to the ear, where it turns out to have been a rhythm all along.
